The Nightlife Of Rio De Janeiro

Thursday 5 October 2006 @ 1:52 pm

Rio de Janeiro is one of the most exotic places on earth. The
sun and beaches during the day give away to a whole new world
of excitement at night. The nightlife in Rio de Janeiro is
exciting and vibrant.

If you are looking for a place to take in some music you have
many choices available in Rio. Samba is one of the favored
types of music of the region and on any given night you can
find it playing loudly along with people dancing. You can
either sit and watch the band or join in the fun and take a
spin on the dance floor. Many establishments are licensed so
you can sip a cocktail while you soak in the ambiance.

If you’d rather take in a show there are several different
theatre options at your disposal in Rio de Janeiro. Most of the
local newspapers will have listings and finding directions is
never difficult. The locals are often the first to help if you
ask which way is which.

The beach at night in Rio de Janeiro is breathtaking. You do
want to be mindful of which beach you are heading to as some
aren’t policed and unfavorable characters gather there looking
for unwitting tourists. If you want to party on the beach
during the wee hours of the night consider visiting Copacabana
beach. This is a popular destination for both natives and
tourists alike. It’s well lit and it’s patrolled by the police
so you can be certain that you’ll stay safe.

During the annual Carnival celebrations you’ll want to get out
in the evening. The Carnival is a world class party with people
attending from virtually every corner of the globe. The
festivities go day and night in Rio de Janeiro during this time
and the locals seem to enjoy it just as much as those visiting.

Parades are seen day and night in Rio de Janeiro during
Carnival and it’s wise to try and soak up as much as you can.
It’s truly a one in a lifetime experience to be there in the
thick of this festive and lively celebration.

New Year’s Eve is a blast anywhere you are and that’s certainly
no exception when you are in Rio de Janeiro. People from all
over Brazil go to Rio to welcome the beginning of a new year.
This is one spot that rivals Times Square for excitement as the
clock strikes twelve.

Rio de Janeiro is a great vacation destination and don’t be
surprised if you get little sleep while there. The fun in Rio
never stops and you’re as likely to find excitement in the
middle of the night as you are during the day.

Just stay safe by steering clear of neighborhoods that you
aren’t familiar with. If you stay on the beaten path and in
areas where lots of people are having fun you will have nothing
to worry about. Make the most of your time in Rio de Janeiro by
seeing the city at night.

– Now You Can Help Burglars Take

Thursday 5 October 2006 @ 1:48 pm

An empty house is an appealing target for a burglar. Use this
checklist of guidelines to help protect your home while you are
away.

1. Have good quality locks on all doors and windows and USE
THEM!

2. Solicit a neighbor to keep an eye on the house while you are
away. It is a sound idea to leave behind your vacation address
and telephone number with a neighbor so you can be reached in
the event of an emergency.

3. Never leave your house key concealed outside your home.

4. Discontinue all deliveries, or make plans for a neighbor to
pick up your mail, newspapers and packages.

5. Arrange for someone to mow your lawn, rake leaves and keep
up the yard to give the home a lived-in look.

6. Plug in timers to turn on lights, a radio or television on
and off at fitting times. This helps to camouflage the fact
that you are away.

7. Don’t make known your absence on answering machine messages.

8. Leave your blinds, shades and curtains in a customary
position. Don’t close them unless that is what you do when you
are home.

9. Close and lock garage doors and windows. Ask a neighbor to
sporadically park in your driveway. If you leave your car at
home, park it as you customarily would. Vehicles parked outside
should be moved occasionally to look as if they are being used.

10. Advise your local police you plan to be away. Patrol
officers may have the occasion to periodically check your home.

11. Engrave your valuables. This simple step will allow any
stolen property to be recognized and returned to you if
recovered by the police.

Vacation Travel Safety

1. If you are driving, make sure your vehicle is properly
serviced and is in suitable condition for the journey.

2. Try to have detailed directions and routes to your vacation
destination.

3. If you become lost, call the area police for directions or
assistance.

4. Always keep your motor vehicle doors and windows locked.

5. When at stoplights and other traffic snarls, allow enough
space in front of your vehicle so that you have an escape
alternative in case of an emergency.

6. Let someone know the route you intend to travel and your
itinerary. This will aid authorities in locating you if there
is a necessity to do so.

7. Plan your trip meticulously and allow for things such as
weather, fatigue, facilities for lodging, food and fuel. Be
sure you have adequate finances, cash, traveler=92s checks or
credit cards.

8. Inquire of the hotel or motel staff about their security
procedures so you know what to anticipate.

9. Make use of the hotel safe to put in safekeeping your
valuables during your stay.

Do you remember the days gone by when you never had to lock
your car doors parked in your own driveway or did not have to
ask neighbors to keep an eye on your property when you are on
vacation because they would do so automatically without being
asked? I am sorry; those days are long since gone and only a
memory!

Take the steps necessary to have a well-needed vacation without
it becoming a vacation nightmare by finding your property stolen
or damaged.
